This is a place one should not visit in a hurry. There is so much to take in and appreciate from the stunning landscape, delicious food and wine, generous hosts and artistic as well as cultural decorations (down to the ostrich feather on the new toilette rolls)

Ons was net vir 2 aande hier maar dit kon maar langer gewees het. Annelize en Varley het ons 'n onvergeetlike tyd gegee. Die ete was heerlik, dit wat ons voor gewens het het ons gekry. Ons het tuis gevoel, nee, baie beter. Die uitsig by die ontbyt tafel is baie mooi: hulle sien net diere en berge.
Die oggend stappie, olifant voer en Cango grotte was alles lekker belewenisse. Die gasheers het altyd goeie raad gegee. Duisend dankies vir die rustige vakansie en die lekker geselskap.
Nur zwei Nächte haben wir hier verbracht, es hätte viel länger sein dürfen. Annelize und Varley haben uns einen unvergesslichen Aufenthalt beschert. Das Essen war vorzüglich, unsere Wünsche wurden uns von den Augen abgelesen. Wir fühlten uns wie zu Hause - nein viel besser. Die Aussicht beim Frühstück ist wunderschön: nur Tiere und wir, Berge, Natur pur.
Der Morgenspatziergang, Elefantenfüttern und die Cango Caves waren tolle Erlebnisse. Die Gastgeber haben immer gute Tipps auf Lager. Tausend Dank für diesen entspannenden Aufenthalt und die spannenden Diskussionen.

Really a well hosted, caring and loving holiday while on a journey. The location is beautiful, the sky, mountains, flowers, plants and animals just perfect. A gem, this place is! I wish for the hosting family lots of success, as it will come, but hope it stays a special place that I may return to find it thriving.

You awake early in the morning, open the door and a Giraffe, Zebras and a Black Wild Beast are watching you. Could your day become better ? Yes ! Indeed ! Having a delicious breakfast on the terrace of the Lodge with fantastic mountain views. For your day follow Varley’s recommendations for activities or enjoy a really relaxing day at the pool, having a glass of cold white wine. We did it all and had a unforgettable days here. Finish the day with an excellent dinner, big compliments to Annelise for delicious menus every night !
We would like to express our utmost appreciation and gratefulness to our host who did not only look after us, but pampered us throughout our stay.

We came to stay for 1 night while on route 62 to Cape Town. As soon as we arrived we knew we were in for a treat! We had an amazing evening with delicious food - the kids loved the swimming pool too! The cabins were brilliant and breakfast & company we brilliant. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Would definitely recommend

The most wonderful stay! After two special days at Zwartberg Mountain Retreat we feel a bit sad to leave this place. Special thanks to Jann and his crew for the best and varied food we had for a long time. Also we enjoyed the company of the wild animals visiting us in the evening. Jann's hospitality can only be described as exceptional. Hope to return one day
